Curling Irons vs. Hot brushes vs. Hot air stylers?

I have really fine hair, kinda long (like 3 in. past my shoulders) and I'm looking for a new way to curl my hair. I have a "traditional" ceramic curling iron right now, but the thing I dislike about it is that the clamp catches my hair in the spring. I also have a lot of trouble getting curls to stay in without turning my hair into a hair-spray-helmet. any ideas what type of tool would be best? I just got a spray that's designed to keep curls in when heat is involved, but I'm still looking for a curling tool. Ideas please?
