Do erflies need water?

I am keeping one beautiful erfly which I found it in my garden. I was monitoring it from a cocoon to now what it is. But then it couldn't fly due to some birth defect. It was quite a pity, because it had no reason to die. So I decided to save this small creature in a container with a 1-by-1cm air hole. I also put in some curry leaves for food source because it was eating my curry leaf plant. My question is, do I need to give the erfly water? Do they go on a nectar instead of water? What would be a appropriate source of nectar then? Please reply a.s.a.p. before something really goes wrong. Thanks!
