What guitar amp do you think I should get now?

I have been playing for a year, I'm pretty good. I own two guitars. I play Metallica stuff mainly. Many solos and many riffs. My 75w combo amp fried after only having it for 5 months, it was $300. I play every day. I have $300-500 to spend. A cheap half stack wouldn't be bad? (brand Raven or Randall). I want good tone!
