Why do British sports commentators use better vocabulary than their American counterparts?
I'm from California and I think soccer is a very tiresome sport indeed; however, my roommate loves Premier League Football. Although I find the sport boring, I do love to hear the commentators because of the high level of vocabulary they use. They always make me laugh, but in a good way because I appreciate hearing such high superlative vocabulary. My question is, why don't American sports commentators use such high level vocabulary? The only major exception I can think of was Heywood Hale Broun. Most people would need a dictionary handy to understand him.
